Fix Login Issue on OneNote
Check issue using Microsoft Account
OneNote is automatically connected to the Microsoft account. You can’t be able to login to OneNote if you have recently fixed or changed your Microsoft password. First, update it with the Microsoft account and then sign in to OneNote.
- Open the Settings on your system or use Win+I.
- Go to the Accounts section.
- Click on Your Info.
- Select Manage my Microsoft Account only if you see a message saying there is a problem with the account.
- Log in to your account in the browser
- Sign in to OneNote.
Run Troubleshooter
Check whether your system has the Windows Store option. If yes, run Troubleshooter and fix all the issues.
- Go to the Settings app or use Win+I on your browser.
- Click on Update & Security.
- Choose the Troubleshooter option.
- Click Additional Troubleshooters
- Click on the Windows Store apps and run the troubleshooter.
- Check all the fixes and apply them.
Reinstall OneNote
Uninstall and Install OneNote to fix Login issues
For Desktop version
- Open Control Panel on your system.
- Select Program> Uninstall a Program
- Search Microsoft 365 and select it.
- Choose the Uninstall button.
- Again Install OneNote and log in.
For Microsoft Store
- Go to the Settings app or use Win+I.
- Select Apps> Apps and Updates.
- Click on OneNote for Windows 10
- Tap on Uninstall
- Again Install OneNote from Microsoft Store.
Reset OneNote
For the UWP/ Microsoft Store version of OneNote, see the below steps.
- Go to the Settings App.
- Open Apps > Apps and Features tab.
- Click on OneNote.
- Choose Advanced Options > Reset.
- Again open OneNote and sign in.
Remove Windows Credentials
- Open Control Panel > User Accounts.
- Click on Credential Manager > Manage Your Credentials > Windows Credentials.
- After clicking on Windows Credentials, select Generic Credentials and search your office credentials.
- Click Microsoft Account: User> Remove.
- Restart OneNote again on your system.
Use Windows Registry
Windows Registry is a data of information, options, settings for hardware and software installed on Microsoft Windows. Data basically contains location, version, and primary executable.
- Click Win+R to open Run
- Enter regit and press Enter.
- Type the below commands
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Internet
- Choose New> Dword.
- Name it as UseOnlineContent.
- Double-click and set the value to 1.
- Restart the system and Login to OneNote.
